Parish Bulletin – 27th November

Today is the beginning of the season of Advent, the penitential season of spiritual preparation for Christmas. Which extra prayers, fasting and almsgiving will you do during Advent as preparation for Christmas?

We welcome Fr. Robert Farrell this evening at 7.30pm to give the first of our Advent Talks, entitled “To Love or Not to Love”, which is about the great crisis which at present is engulfing the Catholic Church.

Please note that Vespers (evening prayer) & Benediction is on this evening at 5pm.

The next St Peregrine Mass, Novena, Anointing and Veneration of the Relic will take place on Monday 19th December at 7pm.

Sponsor the weekly sanctuary lamps in memory of a deceased relative or friend, or for some other prayer intention. Give £5 and intention to John or Fr Morris.

Please note there are no flowers during Advent which is a penitential season. However, donations for flowers for the Christmas season are being sought. Please give your donation to Agnes.

The Sale of Work went very well on Saturday 19th November. The final total was £571.70.

Mary Murray has baked a lovely Christmas Cake, which will make a great addition to someone’s Christmas celebration. Mary’s cake is being raffled. Tickets are on sale now and there are £1 for a strip of 5.

Parish lotto – see notice-board in hall for details.

Christmas raffle tickets are on sale in the hall – 20p per ticket or £1 per book. First prize £150.

The next soup run will take place on Saturday 7th January. Donations of men’s clothing, sandwiches, fruit, chocolate and cigarettes are needed.

The Parish Food Store is in need of your help. The Food Store helped to feed 26 people last week. Please bring your donations to the box in the church or to the chapel house. A list of suggested items can be found here.

Thanks to the continuing and long-running generosity of parishioners we are now short of storage space in the church, the house and the garage. For the time being we are unable to accept any new donations of goods other than:

  • Men’s clothing and shoes
  • Raffle prizes and Tombola prizes
  • Unwanted gifts

Sincere thanks to all parishioners and friends of the parish for your great generosity in donating goods to assist the parish.
