Bishop Schneider at Immaculate Heart

On Monday 21st May, Immaculate Heart was delighted to welcome Bishop Athanasius Schneider ORC as he visited Scotland at the invitation of Una Voce Scotland. The Bishop offered the Pontifical High Mass for the Monday in the Octave of Pentecost. After the Mass, the Bishop met with parishioners in the hall.

On Tuesday, His Excellency gave an engaging talk in the hall. This was followed by the confirmation in the Traditional Rite of Alexander, and Pontifical High Mass. Following the Mass, the Bishop was presented with a plaque of St Mungo and a bottle of whisky. Some of the children of the parish then presented him with his very own Celtic top, and Fr Morris presented a programme from last year’s match between Celtic and the Bishop’s home town Astana. Thanks to Martin Gardner for many of the photos below.

We give grateful thanks to Almighty God for His Excellency Bishop Schneider and for our time with him this week. He leaves us strengthened in the faith, with renewed zeal for souls and for our mission in these difficult times. The parish offered His Excellency a Spiritual Bouquet of Rosaries, Masses and Chaplets for which he was very grateful. Please pray for the good Bishop as he continues his visit to the UK.
